VICTORIA PLUM TREE

Plum Tree variety 'Victoria' picture

One of the most well known and popular of plum trees, Victoria produces pale red fruit as shown in the picture above. The fruit is ripe for eating around mid-August.
Victoria is a versatile plum tree, producing fruit which can be eaten, used for cooking and for jams.
It produces a heavy crop which often needs to be thinned if fruits are to be produced each year.
Left to its own devices the sheer weight of fruit may well break the branches of the tree.

The Victoria plums are produced in late autumn and it is self fertile. This plum tree has stood the test of time, originally bred in Sussex around 1840.
