OF LATE LARGE-FLOWERED HYBRID CLEMATIS
The late hybrids described below flower in
late summer and early autumn. They look superb against walls, but also
grow very well through medium sized shrubs such as climbing roses and buddleias.
Try them climbing up the bare stems of a wisteria.

Hardy: Fully hardy
Height: 4 metres plus (13ft plus)
Flowers: Translucent pearly white flowers. Late
summer flowering.
Leaves: Lightish green
Position: Best in full sun, will tolerate some
shade.
Pruning: Type 3

Clematis 'Ville De Lyon'
Hardy: Fully hardy
Height: 3 metres (10ft)
Flowers Very reliable with 12cm
(5in) intense carmine-red flowers. These fade to a silver-pink
with red edges. Flowers in late summer.
Leaves: Lightish green
Position: Full sun or semi-shade.
Pruning: Type 3

Flowers: 15cm (3in) velvety royal purple
blooms. The easiest clematis to grow. Flowers mid to late
summer.

Hardy: Fully hardy

Flowers: Starts as deep red, fading to violet. The
petals have tapering bases. Reliably produces a second flush of
flowers in early autumn.
