Brora Swede 



General Description:

This swede is the ideal kitchen swede, It has bitter-free, creamy-yellow flesh. Brora a delicious, warming winter vegetable. It also has outstanding winter hardiness, and can be harvested from autumn right through to the New Year. The foliage has good mildew resistance, and has excellent storage qualities. Brora prefers a rich, well manured soil.

Sowing Instructions:

Sow the seed from mid May to late June. Sow thinly, 1cm (½ inch) deep in drills 38cm (15 inches) apart in soil that has been raked to a fine tilth.

Growing Instructions: 

When the seedling is large enough to handle, thin out to 15cm (6 inches) apart, taking care not to damage the roots.

Aftercare Instructions:


Keep the plants well watered and hoe regularly. The roots can be stored in barely damp peat, soil or sand for winter use.
