HOUSE PLANTS

The quality of the indoor plants was excellent and there was a very large selection. The prices were average to slightly above average.

OTHER FEATURES

Blooms is on the Studley Grange site which has several additional facilities. There is a Craft Village which has a large children's play area in the centre (70p to 1.30 per half hour). It is surrounded by a large number of individual craft shops. Many of the shops are aimed at entertaining children.
In addition there is Butterfly World (4.50 adults, 3.50 for kids).

Having a Craft Village, Butterfly World and Blooms garden centre (see below for pets and aquatics as well) makes this site a great day out for all the family. Take a look at the Studley Grange website by clicking here. They describe the facilities available in much more detail.

AQUATICS AND PETS

Pet Shed in Studley Grange Swindon The Pet Shed stocks a large range of pets (almost all except reptiles) and pet accessories. At the time of our visit the Pet Shed was undergoing a refit. This is scheduled for completion in February 2008.

We will revisit when the refit is complete but based on local opinion we are sure this will be one of the best pet shops in the area.

The World of Water Aquatics Centre based in the Blooms garden centre is very large. The range of fish and accessories is comprehensive and attractively laid out. They also stock a good range of water features for the garden.

CAFE

You will be spoilt for choice as far as food is concerned. The Studley Grange Craft Village has its own cafe as does Blooms Garden Centre.

The Craft Village cafe (Papillon) is unashamedly aimed at kids but food for the adults is also on offer. Click the menu board on the left for a clearer picture of the menu. The food prices are on the cheap side and quality is OK. One word of warning, the coffee is from a machine and is not good at all.

Blooms also have a cafe which is aimed more for the adults. It is bright, airy and very pleasant. Prices are average and the food quality is good. We recommend the Blooms cafe especially if it's tea or coffee and a cake you are after.

SUMMARY
If it's a garden centre you are after then the large range of quality plants at Blooms will not disappoint. They also stock a good range of garden accessories. If you want to make an afternoon of it with something to keep the kids amused then the play area, Craft Village, Butterfly World, Pet Shed and aquatics centre will easily keep you all amused. We recommend the garden centre and the other facilities highly.

CHRISTMAS AT BLOOMS

There's no Santa's Grotto at Blooms, the cost of setting it up and all the legal and insurance costs are just too high for a garden centre of this size.

But they have a fair selection of Christmas decorations and gifts, all attractively laid out.

There's a good range of Nordman Christmas trees for sale all clearly labelled for price and size. The range of synthetic trees is also good.

The range of Christmas indoor plants was a bit disappointing. Not particularly well laid out and the range was small.

Prices, in general were average. The Christmas atmosphere was OK but nothing out of the ordinary.
