| This is a well established medium sized Dobbies which has escaped the
standard, soulless makeover of others. Whilst there is a good range of gifts etc it
remains essentially a very attractive garden centre. |

PLANTS AREA
The outdoor plants area is attractively laid out and has a welcoming
feel to it. Significant thought has gone into the design of this area and it works very
well. About half of the area is covered, including the main walkways. This makes Dobbies
at Cumbernauld a good proposition on a rainy day.
The range of plants is good and they are covered by Dobbies five year hardy plants
guarantee. |

INDOOR SALES AREA

The indoor sales area is also very pleasantly designed with a series of rooms. It
certainly is larger than it looks from the outside. They stock an excellent range of
gardening goods, all that most gardeners would need.
They also stock a good range of barbecues, furniture, gifts cards and other
non-gardening items. |

CAFE
| The cafe has two main rooms in the covered section and and outdoor
seating area. The larger of the indoor seating areas is very attractive. It is circular
with wooden beams radiating from the centre. There is a selection of main meal
specials with prices ranging from £6 to £7. Baked potatoes come in at £4.25, baguettes
£4.25, toasties £4.75 plus a full range of teas, coffees and cakes. The staff are
pleasant and helpful. |

Maybe it was the atmosphere or the friendly surroundings, but the food
tasted better at this Dobbies cafe compared to other Dobbies.
PET CENTRE
A fair range of feeds and accessories and feeds but no live animals.
AQUATICS
Yes, a surprisingly large one which stocks a good range of fish, tanks and feeds.
GARDEN SHEDS / GREENHOUSES
None seen.
WATER FEATURES
A small range.
SPECIALITIES
A pleasant nursery type atmosphere.
TOILETS
Yes, spotlessly clean.
CAR PARKING
Ample car parking immediately adjacent to the entrance.

DISABLED ACCESS
Good all round access. The attractively paved indoor area may give a few minor bumps to
wheelchairs but not of any significance. Wheelcahairs are available at the entrance free of
charge.

Wednesday to Saturday 9am to 6pm
Sunday 10am to 6pm
SUMMARY
If you are looking for a sizeable garden centre which still retains its garden centre
roots then Dobbies at Cumbernauld is for you. The cafe serves good food in attractive
surroundings. For us, and we prefer real garden centres, this is the best Dobbies. They have
captured a pleasant atmosphere in interesting surroundings.
