Wentworth Garden Centre, Yorkshire

Entrance to Wentworth Garden Centre

A rather drab entrance to Wentworth Garden Centre conceals a gardeners paradise. With lots of charm and individuality, this is one that stands out from the formulaic set up of many other garden centres.

PLANTS
The outside plant area at Wentworth Garden centre is a pleasure to walk round. The paths are wide and uncluttered and the layout is very pleasant.

Particularly attractive is area for the shrubs. It has a high, old brick wall as a backdrop with a wide spacious path leading you down the area housing the shrubs. The range of shrubs on offer was large, even for a  garden centre of this size.

Plant information signs Finding your way round the plants area was easy. Major plant groups were well signed and most were laid out in alphabetic order.

The design made strolling round looking for plants a very enjoyable experience. No geometrically arranged paths here, they were arranged in sympathy with the plants displayed. A pleasant change from the majority of large garden centres. All areas were kept neat and tidy.

Hardy plants come with a clearly signed one year guarantee. Not as long as some garden centres but a definite pointer that the quality of the plants is good.

You will find most plants here, the range was exceptionally good. Especially large was the range of fruit and ornamental trees on offer. All the plants looked in good health and were well-watered.

Wooden bench

Small portions of the outdoor area were covered but the majority were not. Not good if it is raining.

Set aside on its own was a display of wooden garden chairs with very attractive arches to cover them. Just one of several displays around the plants area which made it stand out from other garden centres.
