A good Japanese Maple for the smaller garden. Inaba Shidare reaches a height of only 2m (6ft). The leaves develop a deep tone of purple-red as they grow in the spring (the picture above was taken in June) and keep their colour all season, deepening in autumn (fall).

Message: I am wanting to get a Japanese Maple for a front landscape area. I would like the kind with the fine burgandy leaves. What exact kind should I get, and will it survive in central Iowa?
