Cafe at Notcutts Ashton Park Garden Centre
THE CAFE AT NOTCUTTS ASHTON PARK GARDEN CENTRE
|
The cafe has one indoor seating area only with no outdoor seating available. It all looks and feels
modern, spacious and airy. The tables and chairs were pleasant although they were set out in
regimented lines.
There were no queues for the food and the serving system worked well. The food was on display so
that you knew exactly what was on offer. |
 |
 |
The quality of the food was good. As part of our meal we had the "gourmet" meal
of the day, a tasty meat and potato pie. "Gourmet" is stretching the imagination
slightly but the meat was well cooked and the pastry crisp. The vegetables and chips
were excellent. They serve sandwiches at around £4, main meal special between £5
to £6 and there was a special offer of two main meals for only £8. |
There was a good range of cakes, salads and snack meals for sale all at very
reasonable prices. The service was prompt and pleasant. Overall the food represents very
good value and our meat and potato pie at only £6 was a treat. HOUSE PLANTS
|
Contrary to what is said on the Ashton Park web page there was not one house plant
for sale, a sad omission for a garden centre of this size. At first we thought we
were not looking in the correct place but when we queried this at the checkout tills
they confirmed that they did not sell house plants. |
INDOOR SALES AREA
|
The indoor sales area is modern and well arranged. Mostly large
aisles, wide enough for wheelchair access in almost all areas. They
stock a comprehensive range of garden accessories, tools, feeds, barbecues, indoor
and outdoor furniture. There is a good range of gifts and cards for sale. |
 |
OTHER FACILITIES
 |
When we visited there was no Pet Centre, but one is promised on Notcutts website
in the very near future. Maidenhead aquatics were either setting up a new aquatics
centre or re-modelling the existing one. They always provide a good display
and offer excellent value for money. |
DISABLED FACILITIES
Both inside and out the paths were wide enough for access. There were wheelchairs available
at no cost.
TOILETS
The toilets (ladies, gents and disabled) were modern, clean and fully functional.
CAR PARKING
Lots of car parking spaces on a flat new tarmac area immediately outside the main
entrance.

SUMMARY
A difficult garden centre to sum up. The wide range of plants were of indifferent
quality and totally outshone, for both prices and quality, by the neighbouring
Mockbridge
Nurseries. The indoor sales area is large and modern.
Without a doubt, the cafe offers good food at very reasonable prices in a
pleasant environment.
