Many tomato varieties will grow successfully in greenhouses and outside, although many have been bred for one or the other.

We give our personal selection of varieties that are worth growing in greenhouses. We have included cherry and full sized tomatoes, plum tomatoes and beefsteak tomatoes to give you a choice.

The old established varieties are named below but we encourage you to grow more modern, disease resistant varieties.

SHIRLEY
Type: Indeterminate / cordon / vine
Greenhouse Type: Cold or moderate heat
Description: Medium sized fruits with that superb, deep red, classic tomato colour. A good round shape with a fresh taste, lots of juice. Ideal for slicing into salads. This is an F1 variety that is much favoured by exhibitors because of its colour and shape.

ALICANTE

These varieties produce small, bite-sized tomatoes which are very sweet.

BEEFSTEAK TOMATO GREENHOUSE VARIETIES
